Post How much has summer heat affected your performance?

I love summer but my car doesn't seem to like it too much. Last weekend in 90 degree heat I could only manage a best of 12.61 @ 109.4.Back in the spring in 50 degree weather, I was able to knock down some pretty consistent 12.0s-12.teens. I thought there was a problem with the car but after talking to some folks at the track found that their lack of performance was consistent to mine. How have you guys made out this season?

Heat is bad, high humidity is the killer. I was at Maple grove PA last weekend and Sat with 85 deg temp and 87% humidity the car ran 12.37 @ 108.9. The very next day with 80 deg temp and 44% humidity it ran a 12.04 @ 112.5 on the brakes. Just wait til those 50/50 days roll around and it will be 11's all day long.

Well, last time out in the heat it was 98* and 90+% humidity with a 20 mph headwind, car couldnt break a 12.90 to save it's life.
Beginning of august came around, and got a 1/2 decent night at Cevil and thats when it set it's new N2O best,so yup,my car HATES hot weather.

I've pretty much noticed a .4-.5 higher ET in the summer months. LT1's hate the heat and they hate the heat and high humidity even worse.

Last year I ran an 11.865@113.57 MPH in about mid 40's, very little humidity.

Since then, I put a hydra rev-kit and 30lbs injectors in. Best was 11.924@113.92 MPH in high 70's, lotsa humidity.

Rather disapointing to me, but maybe I am making more power, but the weather is hurting me, hope so.

Have any of you tried any fuel adatives to help stop knok retard? It seems to help on my car.

Knock retard isn't the problem in hot weather most of the time. What causes our cars to lose performance is the fact that hot humid air is less dense and has less oxygen in it. Humidity is the percentage of water in the air, the more water in the air the less oxygen that can be in it. Therfore, less oxygen less performance, and this is true whether it is 90 degs or 50 degs, it's just that hot weather magnifies the problem.
