just wanna make sure.. LT1-LS1

i know the LT1/LS1 thing has been done to death, but i wanna make sure of something..

my buddy has an '02 formula m6 with a few free mods, hooker lt's, cat'ed y-pipe, and hooker cat-back..

my 97 m6 vert will have cai, LT4 hotcam, 1.6 rr's, jet-hot lt's, off road y-pipe, cutout...

i am thinking it will be a drivers race, especially since he is lacking somewhat... i have a side project of 100 shot of laffin gas, and dunno if i should step it up to be ready if we happen to race...

input would be much appreciated,

I'm thinking that while you might have a HP edge w/ the LT4 cam, your vert's weight will tend to offset that given that the Formula is one of the lightest F's that you can get.


W/O Nitrous = I agree - driver's race.


He know you have gas ?

O.K. - does he know you have gas on the car ?

as for my gas, hey, taco bell tears me up!

as for gas on the car... nope, he doesnt know, he's only heard me talking about it.. i doubt he would think i had n20 just because i talked about it, with the amount of stuff i talk about getting eventually, i would have a 11 second car....
..i can dream, right?

i dont know if i would spray on him and not tell him.. although he is oblivious to what a 3rd gen is, i think it would depend if he starts talking crap.. there is another dude i work with that just bought an srt-4, and he is totally bashing on my car.. for that guy, i would spray all day, and just tell him all i had was a cai and the lope was because i am only firing off of 7 cylinders..

It will be very close NA....like you said it will come down to driver. You do the 100 shot and youll spank him bad and he will be pissed because you sprayed him.

oooh, just thought of something, i gotta get new tires for the rear... i think i'll get some dr's just to eliminate any traction probs... i think that would solidify it n/a ...

I hate my nittos! they hooked so well that I lost ET and MPH... Of course the source of the problem is the 2.73 gears.... time for some 3.42s!!

If you have a kit that will go down to a 50 shot, it will def. be enough to ensure beating him. Most likely he wouldn't know too, because you can just take it easy and then just pass him up. Don't make it by too many cars though. Because your cars are pretty close hp wise and it is going to come down to the launch.

Everyone seems to want to pat you on the back and say go get him. You better add the nitrous.
His car is a 12.9x car. Yours is probably a 13.5 to 13.3 car. Now if this guy is a total moron that can't drive at all then you might take him. But I don't think that your car is an even match at all because of the weight difference and the fact that he still has a about a 30 hp advantage.

i was expecting something near to low 13's(maybe even seeing some real high 12's.. ) on mine.. and i was expecting something like 320-25rwhp with a good tune...

as for his car, he had it dyno'ed and was sitting at 301rwhp and i forget how much(about a year ago) torque after whatever free mods he did.. i was thinking he would have gained maybe 15-20rwhp with the long-tubes and i prolly 10rwhp(with the longtubes) for the catback...


i dont see the 30 hp diff...

but as for the weight diff, i can see that... he shud be around 3500lbs, whereas i am sitting around 36xxlbs..(dont remember exactly)...
i like this... input is good, and shud save me from getting beat if/when we race..

Funny that you assumed the guy can drive, saying his car is a 12.9x sec. car. But, you also assumed the guy with the LT1 can't drive by saying his car is a 13.5 - 13.3 sec. car. My car must be a 13.5-13.3 second car as well...cc305 is basically a hotcam. I really have to botch a run to run a 13.5-13.3, even on street tires.

In looking at the mods that the ls1 car has it should run at least a 13.0 on drag radials and the lt1 should run around a 13.3 due to the wieght or the vert. If you dont get him off the line your dead IMO without the juice. Youll have a better chance in the 1/8 if you can get the jump on him running NA.

It wil be very close! Click on my race video, that is me against my buddies LT1 with almost that setup. I didn't have LT's, and he beat me by a few hundreths...With LT's, but with the vert's weight, it'll be REAL close! Good Luck!
