LE Heads/cam ET's first nite out!

Well I sold my Trickflow heads awhile back and went with Lloyds LE3 (stock castings) heads/cam setup. I also installed a Moser 12bolt, BMR torquearm (factory style adjustable) and a different converter. So I dynoed the car Thursday on a stingy Mustang dyno and ended up with 390rwhp and went out Friday nite to do some testing. The car is 3,450lbs, on 325/50/15 drag radials and had been parked for the last 6mos. so here is how it went. First pass was off the footbrake and I hit the rev limiter on the 1-2 shift:
1.50 60'
7.13@97mph
11.20@120mph
Second pass I left on the T-brake and the car hooked greta but I hit the limiter again and short shifted 2-3.
1.48 60'
7.10@96.8mph
11.12@120mph
Last pass I put a 6,400 pill in the shift lite and let the car cool for awhile.
1.49 60' spun a little
7.02@97.6mph
11.009@121.8mph
I want to say thanks to Lloyd Elliott and Brett Bauer for hooking me up with an awesome heads/cam package that will run mid 10's once I get the converter swapped out and the tune a little closer. It felt awesome leaving with a 1.4 60' on motor and both front wheels in the air. Later Clint

That rocks man! Nice times indeed!

Those heads are as-is LE3's right? I'm curious because your times are very good and that's good power too from that setup. The cam profile also LE3? That's a sweet setup if so, should have went a different route myself if that's the case. Congrats.

The heads are LE3's, the same as everyone gets and the cam is also from Lloyd but maybe LE4. Anyone can get the same setup from Lloyd that I have so it's not a top secret or one off deal. Thanks Later

Maybe it's just me but your horsepower seems a little low. I am running LE1 heads with a custom grind joe o cam. It is comparable to the cam he use to grind for Lloyd in his LE1 setups. I dynoed 385rwhp. Maybe it's the mustang dyno you were on? I am only trapping 115mph though.

The Mustang dynos are 25+rwhp lower than others and I dynoed thru a very inefficient 4,800 converter. I also still need some tuning but ran out of time. Later

What trans are you running? What dyno did you use?

TH350 and a loose convertor will really eat up the HP. The Mustang dynos can easilly produce HP numbers about 5% lower than the DynoJet.

Yep, folks need to ignore the dyno numbers and look at the time slip. Mine was dyno tuned on a stingy Mustang dyno too and it only pulled 397 rwhp. But it consistantly runs 121-122 mph @ 3340 lbs and has run a best of 10.97.

the TH 350 and big *** stall is killing the dyno #'s.

Your other converter will help but the TH 350 will never dyno like a 4L60 or 6 speed.

Since noone responded to my other thread I was wondering what kind of times guys are running trapping 115mph. I see people running low 11's/high 10's trapping 120-125. What about 115-116mph? Its an LE1 setup with a joe O cam. Has all complimenting parts. Dynoed 385rwhp. Ran a 12.20 with 1.9 60.

I had a couple of 115 runs with my car when I had issues - it went upper 11's.

With an LE1 heads cam setup you aren't going to run 120mph unless you lighten the car to 3k pounds with the right gear, converter, tire and suspension to make it 60' well. Goodluck

I have LE2 heads with an LE1HL cam.
I've been trapping 109mph with low 12sec runs.
I've since upgraded my suspension and fixed some minor issues, I should be able
to pull high 11s. (My car is pretty much full weight; AC, TTops, leather, power everything)
I'll follow up once I get her to the track again.

Stalled Autos are likely to trap lower mph than M6 cars, it's just the nature of high STRs.
We're also less likely to blow out a rear end though
