LSx Shoot Out
Grand Blanc, Mich – GM Performance Parts is excited to announce the first ever GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout®, which will occur at Memphis Motorsports Park near Memphis, Tenn, the weekend of October 11-14, 2007. The event, held in conjunction with the National Muscle Car Association’s (NMCA) World Finals, will be the richest in the history of GM-specific sportsman level drag racing. Highlights of this groundbreaking event include two heads-up classes, an index format class, a true street class and a chassis dyno challenge. All told, the purse is worth over $60,000! In addition, there will be LSX-specific jackets and trophies awarded to the fastest and best appearing Camaro, Corvette, Firebird/Trans Am, GTO, Cadillac, and GM truck/SUV.
Presenting sponsor, Primedia’s GM High-Tech Performance magazine, will provide full event coverage as well as rule and event press releases leading up to the history-making drag racing and car show.
“My readers have been waiting for this day since 1998,” exclaimed Rick Jensen, editor of GM High-Tech Performance magazine. “The LS engine family has redefined efficiency and performance in the GM market, and this race will be the culmination of years of development and refinement by thousands of enthusiasts around the world. Other cars have races of this stature, now it’s our turn,” Jensen added.
Have you got the fastest power adder LSX car in the world? Then, test your mettle in the GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout Drag Radial class – a class designed to bring together 7-second power adder LSX vehicles in a test of horsepower and driver nerve. The winner will receive $3,000, a LS7 crate engine courtesy of GM Performance Parts, a monster LSX trophy, and the coveted LSX Shootout winner’s jacket.
Engine builders will be able to strut their stuff in the GM Performance Parts LSX Naturally Aspirated class. As the name implies, this category is designed for all-motor muscle without the help of nitrous or forced induction. Think that you’ve got the best engine program in the LSX community? Prove it! The winner will receive $2,000, a LS7 crate engine courtesy of GM Performance Parts, a monster LSX trophy, and the coveted LSX Shootout winner’s jacket.
The GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout LSX Showdown class allows LSX racers to pick their index, matching their street machine up against some of the fastest cars in the country. The winner will receive $1,000, a LSX Bowtie Block courtesy of GM Performance Parts, a monster LSX trophy, and the coveted LSX Shootout winner’s jacket. In addition, all LSX Showdown class participants will get free entry in the NMCA True Street class on Saturday. Travel through the countryside of Tennessee, and then bring your LSX-powered musclecar back to the track for a three-run showdown to determine who has the baddest LSX street car in the world!
Are you ready to put your LSX engine to the test? Do you want to challenge a horsepower claim that you don’t believe? If so, then enter the LSX Dyno Shootout. GM Performance Parts will provide the chassis dyno and $1,000 to whoever can lay down the most horsepower at the GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout.
“We are very excited about the GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout,” said Lisa Reffett, marketing manager, GM Performance Parts. “The LS community has long asked for a national-level event so that they can race at one track at one time. Coupled with the release of the new LSX Bowtie Block from GM Performance Parts, we think that this will be the biggest year in the history of LS drag racing!”
The GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout will be hosted by ProMedia at their NMCA World Finals – the largest annual event for the sport of heads-up sportsman level drag racing. "The NMCA is proud to have GM Performance Parts sponsor the LSX Shootout at our Word Finals event," said Charlie Harmon, ProMedia Events President. "The LSX segment of the performance market is very HOT and the LSX Shootout will fan the flames of this huge movement sweeping the U.S."
