which makes more of a difference? headers or gears?
I have 94 m6 z28 that has cai, 160 stat, madz28 tuning, and cutout. what will give me a greater reduction in et:
1) mac mid-lengths, or
2) a set of 4.10 gears?
im assuming that they are about the same in cost if you factor in installation for the gears (since i can install the headers myself).
when my car only had the cutout, it was running 14.2 @ 99 mph (very crappy 2.4 60 fts -doh)

Gears and TIRES will have more of an impact on your 60' and 1/4 mile times. Headers increase power, which will affect times, but will increase your trap speed more noticably.
IMO, before you start adding more power to your 2.4 60' times, try to get the power you have to the ground (4.10 gears are 'da bomb!).

thanks for the advice! i should ditch the 245/50/16 all seasons, and learn how to drive this thing first hehehe.
I will probably do the gears next.

Headers and gears are a nice compliment. I went 12s on a stock motor with just headers and gears (also with CAI, drag radials, and dual exhaust before someone raises the ). Like was said before, headers will make you faster (more MPH at the big end) and gears will make you quicker (better 60's and ETs if you can hook). But definitely get the drag radials or better before you start modding. It will make things much easier at the track, and you will really be able to see what your mods did for you.

12's is quite an accomplishment with so few mods!!! will the rear end hold up with gears and drag radials?

I'm debating wether I should get gears or save and buy a 12-bolt. Gears are inexpensive, but if I run a sticky tire with them then I'm afraid that they just won't hold up in my M6.
