New bolt-on LT1 record
Hey I know some of you guys are shooting for the bolt-on LT1 record that was set for Shon Herron years ago at 11.805 @ 113, and more recently an very honerable mention went out to Tom Cowle for his 11.702 @ 114 run earlier this year. I say honerable mention because a lot of people argued that since he switched to a carb and carb'd intake that it was no longer in the rules for the bolt-on LT1 record. Either way I am glad to put that argument to rest by knocking both of them out of the running yesterday, too bad I only got 1 good run in, and I know there is more to get out of it...
I run in a local index series so I was not able to test full outright passes, but I let her rip on one of my qualifying runs just to see how fast it could go. I guess I shoud working on moving up to the 11.5 index...
Here is that run...

too bad f-quick srinks the vid down, at full size you can read the board, but either way you can hear the announcer say "11.561 @ 118 for John P. vs. 12.06 @ 113"

That is freakin sick! That is a fast trap speed for a bolt on car!!!!
can you give a list of what exactly qualifies as "bolt ons"
what rear end are you running and what tires are you running on.
thanks,
Jeremy

Here are the official rules, and they have been in place for many years now. The rules were made up by the editors of GM High Tech when they started testing bolt-on and seeing how far people could take them.
Here is the article with the rules...
http://www.1slowformula.com/gmhtp_bolt-on_article.htm
Shortly after that article was published (within a year or so) Stephen Stumpf (SAR2K) took the record to 11.90's then a year later (early '06) Shon Herron set it to 11.805 where it remained until now. Although I would like to add that Tom Cowle took the bolt-on LT1 to new limits earlier this year with his carb'd LT1 and we should not forget all the stuff he did to have his car in the 11.70's...

OK, if you come up and help, and yeah I will need help on the teardown anyway since none of the bolts on the motor other then valve cover bolts have ever been removed. It is only a 3 hr drive for you to see for yourself, and if I tear it down it will not go back together as just a bolt-on car, LOL...

Congrats, it's not easy getting these cars down to 2800lbs for sure and I thought 120mph was good for a heads/cam Lt1 but not when you run 118mph. My car is 3,350lbs and I took alot of stuff out of the car but I also have a rollbar, 12bolt and full interior so I guess it's time to get some more weight out. Later

It's not official unless someone knowledgeable tears it down and hands it back to you in a thousand pieces. Then again you would probably find a way to make it even faster while putting it back together. Congrats!!!!!!!!!!
