NHRA & Wheel Spacers?

I have a 85 Firebird Formula that I bought after I wrecked the 93 Z28... I have my 16x8 stock wheels from it with MT ET Streets on it. The tires are still good, and the wheels are nice still. I would like to run the 2.5" spacers to use those while racing, but I've heard NHRA doesn't allow bolt-on wheel spacers.

Is this true? Or can I buy a set of wheel spacers for it and not run into problems? I want to bracket race, not just "test-n-tune".

Although it's not recommended, there's nothing in the rulebook saying you can't use spacers. Just as long as there's enough wheel stud going into the nut they can't complain about them.
