Picked up some MT ET DR's, have a few ??'s

Just picked up a set of 255/50/16 MT ET DR's to go on my spare 16x8 rims. What psi is recommended for running these tires on the street and the track. I will be only throwing these on to go to and from the track. I was told many people typically run 21-24 psi in these tires at the track.

What rpm should I be looking to launch at with the stock 10-bolt in order to net me some decent 60's while attempting to not totally wreck the stock rear? I know going to the track with sticky tires and asking that question is kinda silly but I'm just looking to put down some better times and will go for the gold when I finally splurge on a 12 bolt. I have a spec stage 3 clutch if that is of any pertinent info and the mods are listed in my sig.

The psi you stated has worked for me, 24lbs hot. As far as launching a stick, you are on your own with a ten bolt. Go easy and good luck.

Most modern DRs work well with more air than that. And you want the most air in them that still allows good traction. Higher air pressures mean more stability and better top end mph. My Hoosier DRs dead hook 1.48s with 21 psi hot.

Well said. Next time out I'm going to bump up the air pressure a couple of pounds, and see if it still hooks.

Ran my Nitto's down to that (hot) with no problem. Didn't help any more than the 18 to 20 lbs. though. Only massive amounts of smoke in the water box seemed to help the best.

thanks for the tips guys...I'm going to say a little prayer for my 10-bolt before I go but I don't think it will matter

Brian, IMHO, Try leaving soft, as low as possible without bogging the engine.
The drag radials will most likely spin some (something has to give) most likely the clutch wont slip and hopefully the 10 bolt stays together.
The problem you will have, is blowing the tires off.
Mickey Thompson does not usually recomend D/Rs on clutch cars, they did not work for me.
You could also try feathering the clutch out, thats not easy. I can't do it and it's very hard on a street type clutch. Thats what a good drag race clutch will do for you, slip a little (something has to give). I leave at 6K and the clutch slips for at least the first 25 feet. My rpm never goes under 5K.

Play with it, have fun, don't break anything and let us know how it goes.
