That is just terrible. I hope this doesn't sound morbid, but it's hard to visualize how the car could have gotten to half track, reversed direction, and hit a tow vehicle at the start line hard enough to cause fatal injuries? Only way I can see it is if the throttle stuck open and it was still being driven by the motor.
Anyway, my thoughts and prayers are with this drivers family and friends.

That's down right freaky. Maybe she was unconscious after the car came back down and her foot still had the throttle open and that's how it was able to make it back to the starting line under that much power

From the people that witnessed the event that I talked to is she made a 6 second pass well over 240mph the car what they called a "Blow Over" which caused the car to flip, but when it flipped it also did a 180 degree turn in the air. This caused the car to be point backed to the starting line and it continued to accelerate back towards the starting line, the estimated speed by the person that I was talking to was over 150mph when it got back to it's starting point. The tow vehicle for the dragster was struck by the dragster, this killed one of the persons in the tow vehicle which was her son. Now, not to sure when the driver (Shelly) got killed either by the first incident or the second incident.

The parachute was not deployed, the car actually (according to witness) motor stoped at the 1000' mark but somehow when it flipped and did a 180 it fired back up. The witness said it started up past the start/finish line and did a "John Force" burnout all the way back to the starting line. The speed is yet to be determined but they are saying anywhere from 150-200mph at the starting line is a good fair guess.
This is just mind blowing and nothing else. To say it can't happen is not the case anymore. I'm not aware of a tragedy like this. The last time this happend what I heard was when Big Daddy done something like this but his motor actually cutoff. Also it my understanding the type of fuel they have will ignite itself just do to the heat in the motor even though you turn off the magento's. The only way to stop the motor is to turn off the fuel supply.

ken.... i think i've seen you there like every weekend i've gone... you got that black z with your name painted over the drivers window right?
do you know when the track will reopen? and the condition of damage at the starting line? with no barriers at the where you turn left to get to the tree... i would think at 200mph the rail might have made it out to almost the street

No real details, but I think it was totally inappropriate to point out that it happened at a non-NHRA track. WTF does that have to do with anything?
