Angry Strange 12 Bolt ... posi won't hold slicks?!!!

I have a Strange 12 bolt rear. I went to the track with my slicks and in the waterbox when I did my burnout only my right wheel spun! I wouldn't have believed it but my friend filmed it. So I called Strange and they asked me "Did you get the Heavy Duty posi option?" I got the regular posi. The guy told me that I should avoid the waterbox, and I shouldn't even launch it too hard! WTF!

So I need something stronger. Maybe the Heavy Duty posi. What about locker? How driveable is that? I want to launch pretty hard. Car is for weekend/track only. Goal is 700hp. Anyone got experience with this?

Slicks=heavy duty posi. Waterbox should make it easier to start the spin which will reduce the likelihood of "one wheel peel". Try jabbing the throttle harder at the initial hit of the burnout. That was a decent workaround for me when my previous posi units started to go south. Since I put in my Moser 12 bolt with the big Eaton posi I have not had any problems.

Screw a posi !! I had a big eaton in my moser 12 bolt and after about 21/2 years of dragstrip abuse it went south. So exit posi, enter full spool, the only way to drag race.

Strange says my only options are the Super Strength posi or a spool. I don't think I want the spool cuz I like to take my car out for drives on the weekend. So I guess I'll try a super posi and see how it holds up. Strange doesn't even sell rears with the "regular" posi any more.

That realy sux. I can't believe they would sell such a thing in a 12 bolt package for an F-body. After all, we're upgrading cause they factory piece is weak. Why would they make there's weak as well?

When referring to a heavy duty posi unit, what pound rating springs are in those?

Thanks,

Steve.

Dave, it was pricing. The HD Eaton unit was an addition cost when I got mine. I think it was and extra $100. Same with the axles. I upgrade to 33 spline shafts.

Yeah it was a $100 upgrade at the time, now it's going to cost $650. Helluva afterthought.

Strange tells me the super strength posi has more clutches, and the springs are rated at 800 lbs vs 400 lbs in the regular.

Had the same issue with strange. The HD posi will hold, mine is and has through several years now.
