Post trap speed

Cars a TPI with 3:73 rear 28 in tall rear tires, nothing wild intake wise, ported stock stuff and SLP simese runners.CAr runs its best shifting just under 5000,and goes through the lights @around 5200 with a 2400 converter.Question is,that going through in 3rd, it kinda runs outa steam,MPH's 100-101.If it bumps ito 4th/OD it will go 102+.Opinions on what it would do if it could pull 3rd through the lights?im thinking 104 or so.Just a hypathetical question,Im bored at work LOL

You would probably be better off with a taller tire of 29", maybe even 30" if your car makes it's best power @ 5000 and you are @ 5200 @ the traps.

I bet you have a lot of bottom end and the car would probably even benefit from additional rollout.

LOL,I put the 28's on ,going from 26 in tall tires.By all the MPH calculators I could find the 28 's shoulda done it.Guess the loose converter is hurting me more then I thought.Yeah, lots of bottom end, with the 275/60/15's cant floor it till about 30 ft out,has crap 60 ft times.Th3e real bummer is that the sticly tires on the AMX are 26 in.

Cool

A converter that locks will net you the 200-300 less rpm through the traps you seek. You may even be able to program your computer to lock at a lower RPM. Mine loks in third gear at 95 MPH. I leave the shifter in 3 to make sure it doesn't kick into OD. I trap at about 6200+ locked.
