Went to the track for the first time...

Finally made it out to give it a try. Didn't do that great but it was fun anyway. Maybe with some practice launching I can improve a bit. It's a M6 and I spun pretty good launching. I only had time to make one pass...my first and only.

60' 2.41
1/4mi 14.23 @ 99.72

Think the car has a sub 14 run in it?

I agree. With traction and practice I think you have a 13 second car. I was hooked after my first time. Before I knew it I had ordered drag radials, a shifter, cold air kit and headers... My wife looked at me like I was nuts but it is like a desease. Welcome to drag racing.

Hell yeah! YOu got yourself a 13 sec. Car.. w/a 2.0 60ft your possibly looking at a 13.5 easy.. Check your shift point's a lil more carefully to bring that mph up where it belong's.. Drag Racing is fun ain't it..

Funny you should mention the shift points because I was so excited I don't even remember looking at the tach until I hit 3rd. Also, I did grab 4th just before crossing the line but it seemed like I almost could have held 3rd...maybe not but it seemed like I was pretty close. I was trying to shift somewhere between 5500 and 6000 by my stock tach...don't know how accurate it is. It has the 3:42 gears...do most people with that gearing hit 4th? And yes, it was damn fun! I'll be back again.

Re: Went to the track for the first time...

you should be shifting around 6krpm. How are you getting out of the hole? Feathering the clutch or dumping it? Drag racing is a drug, very addicting like cocain. When my car was still relatively slow(not that its real fast now), I was trying to build it up to perform well all around(handling, breaks, streetability, etc), now that I am close to the 11s I have taken out the back seat, A/C, front sway bar, its getting restalled to a 3400-3600 TC, 9" rear end(probably going to go with a heavy duty detroit locker with 4.10 gears), 125hp shot of giggle gas, and Once the local track starts kicking me out I'll put the 6pt roll bar in it.

I think I was so excited that I more or less dumped it hence all the wheel spin. It is definitely addicting...already looking forward to going again when I can stay the evening and try a few runs in a row. Gonna try a little less throttle and clutch next time and see if I can't ease it off the line a little better. I have always had much slower cars in my life where it took effort to spin the tires. This is the first car I have had where you have to try NOT to spin the tires.
