I just got a 1979 camaro that currently has a straight six engine and a faulty tranny that will engage but not go drive in reverse. I would like to put a v8 in and swap from automatic to manual tranny. I need help on where to start! thanks

Do you want a stock 79 setup or something like a new motor that will work with modifications?

 

Your 1979 Camaro = Car A
A similar car that ran when you parked it (usually a wreck or rust or ?) = Car B

Park them together and move everything over.

You can use just about any motor in your car. Just have to find an engne, transmission combo and then modify whatever you choose to work.
