Re: 4l60e

Yes, you're 4L60E will work and last IF it's built properly.

Re: 4l60e

I agree with 12SCNDZ, the 4L60E can live in mid to high 9 second Camaros & Firebirds, & I have a one in the high 9's & a few in the mid to low 10's, so one should hold up to yours, if done right.

Re: 4l60e

I'm interested in these 60E's that can last in the 9's and 10's as I've burnt up 2 Raptor level 3 trannies N/A on my 383 LT1 running 12 flats. I plan on putting about 300 shot on top of that and want one to take that on top of what I have. Can it be and has it been done. If so I'd like to get some facts on what kind off set ups these are running on and how long they have been running. Thanks.

Re: 4l60e

SilverZZ28 on this board ran the living **** out of GM reman 4L60E, he made on both kits 600 RWHP, ran low 10's at FULL WEIGHT and then some..to my knowledge he only blew up one in a 3 year period and the car had the living **** ran out of it at the track and on the street. He pulled it out of the crate and put it in the car.

Ed Wright runs 10.20's @3350 pounds with a 4L60E (built of course) he says he has had little or no problems.

Fords AOD had similar problems, people would be driving in overdrive stomp it and let itself shiftdown when running from a roll on.....this is BAD for any overdrive trans...manually dowshift it..and when 3rd gear runs out ..the race is over..when you full throttle upshift into overdrive it will KILL the 3-4 clutchpack.

People dont know how to treat an overdrive automatic is most of the problem.
