4L60E Automatic Transmission Removal HELP!!!
Anyone have any step by step instructions for removing a transmission (4L60E) out of a 94 Z28 LT1 Automatic? I can't seem to find any for an automatic, just a manual. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe

It's not too hard...but here goes.
Disconnect the battery, of course.
Remove exhaust and/or y-pipe. This depends on your exhaust setup. You may or may not need to remove it. Make the call when you get under the car.
Remove large inspection/converter cover (4 bolts).
Remove the starter (2 bolts, few wires).
Remove driveshaft. Undo the two small straps on the differential, 4 bolts total. A small amount of fluid will come out of the tailshaft. Be prepared to plug it or catch it.
Support driveshaft under pan with piece of wood and a jack to distribute the load evenly.
Remove the four transmission cross-member bolts.
Undo the throttle linkage (2 bolts in the pan plus the snap on the arm of the transmission).
Unplug whatever electrical connectors you can see (VSS, main connector).
Slightly lower the transmission about 6".
Undo all the harness clips on top of the transmission that hold the wiring in place. There are several of them.
Remove the transmission dipstick. It is held in by a bellhousing bolt on the passenger side.
Remove the transmission cooler lines. These can be a pain in the ***. Use a good quality line wrench to break these loose.
Rotate the engine via the crank to unbolt the torque converter from the flywheel.
Start removing the other 5 bellhousing bolts, making sure the transmission is still supported.
Once the bolts are out, it's a matter of keeping the transmission supported and pulling it out.
That's just a quick outline. There are a few minor steps inbetween, so just post if you run into any snags. Good luck.
