4l60e limitations ???

What is the maximum output that a stock 4l60e will support without harm ? I have read that the horsepower rating doesn't hurt them but it's the torque that does. I am a bit scared since I am going with nitrous and I was wondering where I should put my barriers on a stock car before even installing it.

Well anything you add to it will increase stress...like adding a stall converter. That's why it's a good idea to get a huge oil cooler when you do so. I have heard that adding a shift kit, as long as your transmission isn't already showing signs of slipping, can actually prolong the life of the 4L60E...

I can't really comment on the N20...the only big thing you'd have to watch for is your torque like you mentioned. I'm assuming you're running with your stock 10 bolt? If so, that will most likely go using DR's before your transmission does...hooking up HARD is what'll kill you...

I'm planning on running with z rated street tires so no dr's for me. So correct me if i'm wrong but hooking up hard is what actually kills the rear end ?
