Maybe not exactly pattern and points, but here me out. In my 94 Trans Am, newly rebuilt 4l60e with a transgo shift kit (low level install), new valve body, has about 100 miles on rebuild. Engine is completely stock. Rearend is 2.???, not exactly sure what gear is stock in these cars, I just know it is less than 3 by watching tires vs. driveshaft rotation.

When I start out, especially on a hill, the trans feels like it starts out, then downshifts then goes back to were it was before. All in a matter of maybe 5 seconds. Almost feels like it starts to move in second, shifts to first, then back up to second. This happens when the shifter is in the "D" position.

This is my first v8 4th gen. All I know is that my 88 700r4 doesnt do anything like it, and my wife's 98 v6 4l60e doesnt do it. I dont know what is going on. Is this normal? Thanks

 

drove it with a scan tool installed today. Looking like I have a bad converter.
