Id guess your tranny is on the way out...a 700R4 does not BANG each gear hard in stock condition...And if it Is your tranny going out, It will start slipping eventually and become more noticeable

yeah, i never meant banging shifts, just quick firm ones are always better than slow mushy shifts.

Doesnt the 4L60 have overdrive??? I thought that was the difference between the two.

Oh ok. Me too.

A 4L60e is an electronic controled 700r4. Same design.

4L60 (700R4) is junk, I went thru many of them...

That guy must be thinking of a TH 350/400.... he has it pretty much dead on if thats the case.

But the 700R4 is not good either.

If your willing to pay for it they can be built to handle some horsepower just not all that much horsepower.
I am swapping to a TH350 or 400 if that tells you anything.
I can buy a pretty much bulletproof 3 speed for half what it would cost to build a good 700R4/ 4L60E and even then there are no guarantees.

IF not, It could be a sign of Your tranny going

he is so right, thats how my car felt when i first got it shifted great, hard shifts. fluid was clean and 2 months in. car wont shift at redline. toque converter slips going from a stop. sometimes it slips and WOT. so get a rebuild kit from pro built. im getting mine next week. sucks to drive a fast car only to redline.
