I am looking at buying a 93 camaro LT1 came from texas Body is mint has a few extra mods Flowmaster exhaust and cold air kit. I can get it really cheap has a 164000 miles on it. The guy said he is selling it cheap because its his sons car. He told me about a month ago the tranny started acting funny. In order to get it to shift from 1st to 2nd gear you have to let off the gas then it will go into 2nd gear fine and all other gears are right where they need to be he says motor runs very stong and is fast as hell. So I am gonna go look at it this weekend. I am a fairly skilled mechanic but I am looking for some ideas if anybody has any please what do you think the 1st to 2nd gear shifting funny is all about Thanks alot guys and also thank you for all your help on my previous threads about my 95 Z28 Which by the way I still have it and have not done anything with the motor yet it just sits there looking pretty.

 

I would say it is probably the kickdown cable. Try adjusting it one way or the other.

 

Thanks anyways for the advise on the camaro. I went to look at. well I was wrong it is a 94 not a 93. I didnt even give a **** about the tranny once I saw the car OH MY GOD this thing was a major wreck The guy said it came from texas Yeah it was rust free but it was all scratched and the back lift gate had a big chunk missing on the corner like it had been hit in the rear and the windsheild was cracked The interior was just mangled The radio was ripped out so the dash pieces were missing the dash had a big huge crack on the top in front of the windsheild on the drivers side. The back tire were bald. I checked the tranny fluid. and there was none showing on the stick at all. So I told the guy. thats probably why it doesnt shift right. and I opended the radiator cap and there was nothing in it you could see a little bit down in it but it looked like straight water and it was all rusted inside. I mean this car was just all around a mojor pile of ****. I dont even think it is worth $500 bucks and he wants $2,500 for it. just because he thinks he's got something because its a camaro LT1 Who cares. So I kindly in a nice way told him that it was a pile and would cost way too much to fix it up and I left. the sad part is I had to drive like 60 miles one way to get there. I hate when people lie about what they got when they sell stuff. and people that don't take car of there cares makes even more mad. If you dont know anything about a car. you shouldnt own one. or you should take the time to learn how to keep it nice and running good. Thanks again guys have a good one
