You may have a mal-adjusted kickdown cable (tv cable). Have you recently disconnected your transmission cable at the trottle body end? If so, you may have to adjust. Connect your tv cable to the throttle lever as you push down on the adjustmentd tab/button. (button/tab in on the cable itself on the trottle body end). It should ratchet as your fully extend the trottle lever to full trottle. You will hear it click in place. Let go of lever and your set.

There's something else at work here. I can't put my finger on it, because a TV cable doesn't just jump out of adjustment. There's something else going on, weather it's the engine not making the power or weather it's the trans acting up. I'd drop the pan and put a fresh filter in it, and some new fluid......assuming that it has been changed at some time in the past. If it's never been done leave it cause your trans will not like you if you do change it. As for the not shifting, it could be the tv cable, but be careful not to mess it up, otherwise you could hurt your trans more than help it.

It is hard to see however there is a pushdown tab on the tv cable. It will sit just behing the metal guide plate where both the throttle and transmissions cables are pushed in place on the side of the trottle body.

1. install trottle cable (lock in trottle cable in trottle lever & metal guide plate).
2. install tv cable (lock in tv cable end into trottle lever & metal guide plate).
3. push down on adjustment tab
4. as you keed pushing down on adjustment tab, open throttle lever to full open
5. you should hear it click/ratchet as you pull to fully open position.
6. if it ratchets, let go of adjustment tab.
7. Try again if you dont hear it ratched/click.
