Anyone know of an good transmission additives?

Not having any kind of transmission problems at all but just wondering. Anyone recommend any additives to help cool or lubricate or any particular type of oil? Synthetic perhaps?

Syns like Redline or RP are good..... As for additives, most are just snake oils....

Generally speaking, a good ATF has everything needed. Additives are a waste of money. I like the "Ford type" ATF for a race car, Dexron (GM) for a street car. The Ford spec stuff seems to shift a little harder. But either should work fine.

i agree. yes conventional oils are much better these days, but the difference is in the molecules between conventional and synthetic. synthetic molecules are round, conventional are elliptical. there are other properties also important but the main thing you want to do is run cooler so i choose round on round (internal parts, brgs. etc.). ford oil has a higher coefficient of friction which means it doesn't allow the clutches to "slip" as much therefore the harder shift. hope this helps. grasmo.
