Re: clutch recomendations
I have the McLeod Street Twin and I would highly recommend it. It's a lil pricey, but if you plan on having it stroked out or adding a supercharger or turbo'ing it or a large shot of Nitrous, to me, it would be the only choice. It can handle 1,100 Foot Lbs. Torque without slipping. The kit is very complete. Includes new master cylinder, flywheel, both clutch disks, spacer plate, new bolts, even a fist full of bumperstickers (not sure who would wanna "gauk" up your fbody with stickers but you never know.).
During the first 500 miles it grabs a lil more agressivly than the stock one. If your clutch is slipping really bad and you change to this clutch, you'll see how much gripping power this clutch has. After the 500 mile break-in period, it drives just as stock as the orginal clutch. Its not as "HEAVY" as most people think or say. I'm 6'3" and thin as a rail, in other words no "strong" guy and its just as easy to press the clutch pedal as the stocker was. It doesn't engage HARSH as everyone says either. During the first 500 mile break in period, it has a sort of on/off feel but after break in, you can ride/slip it no problem.
Don't listen to people that don't have this clutch and make comments on it. This clutch is used in my 97 t/a that sees about 300 miles per week. This car is my daily driver.
If you want to see how it takes off, view this video of my SLP Loudmouth. In this video, I show you the outside of the car with the Loudmouth, then I take u on a drive inside the car with the loudmouth, notice how easy I can take off with the McLeod clutch. No "ON and OFF" feeling or jerking whatsoever.
