Engine Swap

Bought my '91 Z28 about 2 weeks ago guy said he had a 350 put in it and I have the receipt from when he had it replaced but it does not say specifically say what kind so I was wondering if you can put a 350 TPI in a 5-Speed z28?

Re: Engine Swap

Yes you can. The stock engine in the 91 Z28 was the LB9 305ci, 205HP. If you ordered it with option G92 it had a 5-speed manual, dual cats, an oil cooler and was rated at 230HP.

Option G92 could also be equipped with the B2L 350ci V8 245HP, but only with auto trans (the T5 was not considered strong enough to put behind the 350).

All the Gen 1 Chevy small block engines are the same dimensionally, so you can put any 350ci SBC in your car. Just take it easy on the 5-speed, unless they have upgraded to an aftermarket T5. The 93's introduced the Gen 2 SBC engine, called the LT1, 275HP and that can also be installed, since it is dimensionally similar to the Gen 1 engines. Post a picture of the engine and we can help figure out what it is.

Re: Engine Swap

Thanks it has a dual exhaust and has a stiff clutch(brother-in-law said it felt like a stage 2) which would make since if he really put the 350 in, ill have to check me engine vin and cast number on the block to really know what i have since its not the original engine.
