Gear/Speedo ?

well got my 3.73's in today and was going down the high way about the speed limit or so i thought when i get passed by every person on the road minivans and all so i get my friend to run right beside me turns out there is about a 10 mph diff in our speedo
no biggie just subtract 10 from what is says

but is it normal for a place to install gears and not recalibrate the speedo he said somthing about it would cost extra to reprogram the PCM but i didn't know this would effect the speedo thought that was just when u got bigger wheels and tires

ohh well i like the gears anyway guess i'll have to do somthing about the speedo when i can

thanks

srry its long

The difference between your actual speed and what the speedo says changes depending how fast you go.

I would just go the same speed as everyone around me until I could get the speedo calibrated.

When you're going down the freeway, set you speedometer to 60mph and go one mile and time yourself on how many seconds it takes you. Good way is to judge it between mile markers. It should take you 60 seconds to go from one mile marker to the next at a "true" 60 mph. But how ever long it takes you, devide that time in seconds from 60 seconds and this will give you the constant % your speedo is off, regardless of how fast you drive. my 4:10 gears Im off about 18%. Here is a website... its for jeeps but its the same concept regardless of what you drive. Good luck.

You can also go to www.f-body.org/gears/ and make yourself a little chart for the highway - won't help in town with your stall though. Another option is getting a hold of a used HPP3 if you don't want tuning yet, I sold mine for $130 shipped.

I bought a used Hypertech Programmer, but it quickly became useless when I did a cam swap, now I use LT1 Edit to correct the speedometer.
