Re: gm poly tranny mount
The mount height changes your driveline angles and the U-joints don't like that. Bunches of people on this board that had their shafts re-done, then swapped back to a stock mount and cured the vibration caused by the poly mounts.
Not every car is sensitive. Ride height, engine mount condition, and manufacturing tolerances on the Xmember, trailing arms, rearend brackets, etc all play a small role. Ride height is probably the biggest. Lots of people have used poly mounts successfully too.
You'll know the minute you put it on if you check the driveline angles. Simple magnetic angle finders are $15. Memory says within 4 degrees is cool, but verify that. Everything I read indicates the spohn mount doesn't use the preload plate. Still a small height increase. But it's an increase that most cars can tolerate.
Personally, I'm not hassling with it. Headed to a GM counter to try and get a 1LE mount. Otherwise, stock replacement. Good luck!

Yeah, I heard that about the merged part numbers. Some people think the merged part number is a technology cross-breed between regular and 1LE. Some just think they discontinued the 1LE, no upgrade to the standard. Then there's NOS 1LE at some dealers to further confuse it.
I figure mine's lived through 5 sets of tires in 70K. It doesn't look too great, but if it's replacement does the same, I'd be happy.
You'd sure think there would be more choices. - Later

Re: gm poly tranny mount
I just installed a 1LE trans mount in my 99 Z28 (6 speed manual)
I bought the 1LE trans mount thru SLP back in 1999-2000, and it sat in my garage till just a week or two ago. I could have sowrn it was only $20 back then... (it looks like GM trans mounts are lile $40-60 now?!)
The 1LE and my stock LS1 rans mount looked completely different. My stock LS1 trans mount didn't have any metal on the sides, but had these safety metal plates/"protrusions" that effecitvely kept my tranny still relativley in place even though the rubber was cracked all the way thru... albiet very noisily wth lots of slop (the rubber was completely cracked so it allowed enough movement to hit these metal "stops".. Looking at the 1LE piece, it doesn't appear to have this interlock (unless its hidden inside the rubber).. The 1LE piece though did have seem to have alot more mounting area for rubber metal contact, with metal coming up along the sides for the rubber to attatch to. although it didn't appear there was any rubber to metal contact on the bottom?
1LE trans mount also used a slighly smaller nut than my sotck LS1 transmount. Guy at Autozone figured it out and got me one.
During the install, I noticed i had to every slightly jack the trans up a little higher to get everything to fit(no more than a few mm's i think(... Although maybe just to get the actual bracket underneath to twiddle back on.. After everthing was bolted up, I removed the jack, and double checked the main nut, so it might have settled back down again.
anyways, the 1LE mount works great. Its disturbing how much slop I was dealing with before when my stock mount was slowly cracking over time.

Re: gm poly tranny mount
Does anyone have the spohn tranny mount? I've read the es poly mounts are about .5-.75 inches too high and the spohn claims it is the correct height. If not i might as well get the ls1 mount?
