LS6 clucth

I just got a '99 Z28 M6. I was wondering what year did they make a clutch upgrade? Wasn't it a change to the LS6 clucth and slave cylinder? My clucth is already acting funny and I looking for option ( budget minded ) I have as far as a clutch goes.

The clutches were the same 98-02. The LS6 clutch came in LS6 cars (not LS1 cars ) Now, the master and slave cylinders on the other hand were upgraded in the 99+ years so you should be fine there. If yours is bad, I would just order another stock one.

You can put a LS6 clutch in your LS1, but I believe you need a LS2 pressure plate to make it work.

I've always heard the 01-02 had the LS6 clutch as well.

The LS6 clutch will work with your stock flywheel.

The LS7 clutch is the one that requires the LS2 pressure plate which is the same as the LS7 pressure plate and it'll also require the LS6 or 01-02 LS1 slave cyl.

You can get the LS7 clutch and flywheel assembly for ~$500 new or for under $300 as a low milage take off like I just did.

New Ls6 stuff should be under $400 IIRC.
