Need advice on T56 issues

I have a 94 Z28 with a T56. I've been searching on here and haven't found anyone who has had the same problem as me. I am new to these transmissions. It seems to me like my synchros are failing. 2nd, 5th and 6th gears all grind when going into gear. 1st, 3rd and 4th are fine. It does it stopped and while shifting. I read somewhere it may be the clutch not disengaging all the way? Other wise it shifts fine. Also reverse pops out of gear about half the time. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, it definitely sounds like the synchros to me. I am not sure about the reverse though, it could be that the dog is worn out.

Their site is currently under construction, so:

Whatever you do, don't have it rebuilt locally by some random transmission shop. SixSpeedsInc will do a better job, and most likely for less money.

Unfortunately, Six Speeds Inc is now out of business. Joe, the builder, now works at LMR.

You might look into D&D Performance as well. Do a search, there are quite a few companies that rebuild the T56.

That's really too bad. What's the story behind it?

I'm glad I got mine rebuilt by them before they went under.

I have no idea, I've just seen it posted on a few forums, LS1tech for one. Joe did great work, mine is still mashing gears like the day I bought it. They had great prices too. They even gave my brother a discount because I had one done by them first.

D&D really screwed a buddy of mine. They did a really crappy job of rebuilding his TKO and wouldn't stand behind it. Dunno if this was isolated or part of a pattern, just FYI.

Thanks for reassuring my suspicions guys. I didn't really want to rebuild it, but I guess its gotta be done! I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't be something else.
