OBD1..can I run a 3000+ stall?? Whats the odds
Whats the odds from what you guys have seen, on a 3000 or higher stall working with an OBD1 setup. I taked with ION and he said there was software available but I forgot to ask what software ( any ideas while, I'm inquiring ) and he mentioned with the software I have a 75/25 chance of it working. I have my eye on a 3200 stall and don't want to pay to have this installed, only to find out it isn't going to work.
Is 3200 stall getting out of "streetable" range? Last car had a 2500 stall and it worked well.
Thank guys
Adam

<-----OBD1 and 3200 stall on the daily and lovin' it. I believe it's 3500 and up and I have't heard of anyone having a prob with 3200 or smaller. That's not so say there aren't those who have had it.

Most people say it's 3000rpm stall that's the limit. Anything higher is asking for trouble. There are quite a few people who have been trouble free going higher though. It's up to you if you wanna risk it. BTW I have a 3000rpm stall and it works great(95' Z).

I ran into the problem with my Midwest 3600, unfortunately. Bryan @ PCMforless.com fixed it for me though. It's not fun when it happens to you at the strip.

Pcmforless.com can take care of it for you. A buddy of mine got away with a 3200 for about a month but then took it to the track a few times and the high stall problem showed up. A 3200 is not bad for a daily driver I used to run a 3000 stall in my 97z and didn't really notice a reduction in gas mileage as long as i kept my foot out of it. Once you hit 45mph cruising the lockup clutch will take all the slipage out of the converter so it isn't bad at all.
