Question about th400
Will a m6 wiring harness work with a th400 trans? Does the wiring harness on an LT1 OBDI even connect to the th400 at all? As far as I know the wiring harness connects to the a4's because of their electronic shifting... My th400 has a manual valve body, do I need to connect anything to it from the pcm at all?
Thanks in advance...I should really do some research and learn some things before getting my hands dirty....

Re: Question about th400
No.
Hook up your lines to your tranny cooler and your shift linkage and your VSS. The VSS is the only electrical hookup, unless your running a tranny temp guage.
If you don't have a VSS in your TH400 you will have to figure out a way to make your Speedo work.
I have my connector from the wiring harness zip tied out of the way up by the PCM, just in case. But I don't ever plan on running an electronic tranny again.

Re: Question about th400
It will "work" in respect to the fact that there are NO connections of any kind required directly to the TH400. You will need to find a way to use the M6 wiring harness to work the backup lights, and include the function of the P/N lockout switch on the shifter. You will need to over-ride the "clutch depressed" switch that prevents the starter from working unless the clutch is on the floor. All this can be accomplished with the stock M6 harness.
The speedo issue can be solved in one of two ways. You start by intalling the VSS from a mid-90's GM truck, then have to interface it to the stock PCM. If you keep the stock M6 program in the PCM, it will assume you have the 17-tooth/rev M6 VSS wheels, and your speedo will be incorrect, because the VSS you install in the TH400 will have a 40-tooth wheel like an A4. You either flash the PCM to an A4 program, and the speedo reads right, but now you have all sorts of codes for the missing 4L60E connections. Or you put a Dakota Digital transalator box in the VSS circuit and set it to translate the 40-tooth signal to a 17-tooth signal rate.
Finally... moving to "Drivetrain", since this has nothing to do with "LT1/LT4 Engine Tech".
