Question about torque converter install.

When I bolt the converter to the flexplate, I am sliding it forward about an inch towards the plate. Is this normal?

Was my first time doing a motor install. Just trying to track down a weird rattle when the car shuts off.

Re: Question about torque converter install.

Hmm...maybe I should put some washers in there. Is yours back as far as it will go?

Re: Question about torque converter install.

Gripe, this is from TCI's website FAO's:

What type of clearance should I have between the torque converter and flexplate before pulling the converter forward and bolting it to flexplate?

Answer: You should have 1/8" (.125") to 3/16" (.1875") between the torque converter and flexplate before pulling the converter forward and bolting it to flexplate.
