T56 removal questions...
My T56 is dead in my 98 Z28. I removed the torque arm and propeller shaft today along with all the connectors.
Any tricks to remove the clutch line from the transmission without the special GM tool?
Also, how can I get to the top bolt on the transmission? I was thinking I could lower the rear of the tranny.
Hello everyone. I hope GM builds the Camaro Concept.

Re: T56 removal questions...
For the clutch line, you can grab a adjustable wrench and push it against the release tabs while pulling out on the connector. The top bolt of the transmisson can be had from the back...get yourself about 3 feet of extensions and come at it from by the tail of the tranny.

Re: T56 removal questions...
It was a breeze after I lowered it and shined a light up in there. The extentions worked as advertised. I didn't have enough room to back it off and tried removing the y-pipe, and one of the bolts broke. Now I'll need headers and a y-pipe. I learned that I'll definitely need to lift the car up higher.
Had to lay the back of the tranny on the ground, lift up the front, slid the jack out and laid the whole thing on the floor. Drug it out on a blanket.
The thing is just nasty, covered in black grease. After I clean it up, I'll start the tear down. There is a first for everything though.
Upon further inspection, I'll probably need a new oil pan seal, and have to tear down the rear end. It's also covered in grease and dirt. I noticed grinding noises coming from the rear end when I cornered slow.
