You think the improvement might have something to do with the magnaflow muffler? The stock muffler is absolute and total junk. I noticed mine wasn't welded to the intermediate pipe, so I simply loosened the band clamp and pulled it off. Made a HUGE difference for me too. I believe the stock intermediate pipe isn't really much of a restriction - it's the crappy muffler that caps it off that is to blame.
