i just put on my magnaflow catback on my lt1 and love it. but now my cat is rattling ......

what will just flat out gutting it do to the sound/ performance?

and what to do about check engien light comming on....

 

the SES will be determined why what year you have.

i suggest making a signature so we know what kind of car youhave, with mods.

since you say "cat"...i'll assume you mean one. which means its obd1...which means there is no post-cat o2 sensor. so gutting the cat won't affect the SES. even if it had that sensor, the code has no affect on the running condition of the car.


gutting the cat will increase the volume as well as the raspiness of the exhaust tone at higher rpms. some like it, some don't.
you can always pull the cat out and put a high flow in, or throw an 18" bullet muffler in it's place to tone it down a bit.
