Why get mids?

I understand that mid length and long tube headers move the stock locations of the cats, so you would fail emissions...so my question is if they both fail you (if your in a strict state) why not get long tube headers?

Because the location of the Cats is not always checked in some places.
Some midlength setups retain the stock location.
Mid's give you more ground clearance.
Mid's cost less.

I was under the impression that all mids moved the stock cat location...didn't know that, thanks.

The AS&M mids do not relocate the cat.

I'm gona go ahead and say mids dont cost less. $280 shipped for pacesetter LT's is definitly not more than most mid headers.

One reason why mids dont move the cat is simple. There really isnt any header which is a true mid. There are shortys and longtubes...thats it. Mac mids are actually shortys from what I've read on here. I've looked at what pacesetter calls its 'mid' header in person and the thing is a shorty.

There are mid tube headers.
As&m are, they are 1.75 primary and same with slp's. By definition those are the only 2 mid headers. Everything else is 1 5/8.

That is what everyone calls them...mid tube headers. But if you look at one of those said mid tubes compared to a shorty from another brand...same length?
