Question 383 stroker.... s/c ?

Ive got a 95 Trans am that i have recently built a stroker for, I had the block converted to four bolt main, scat steel cast crank, eagle I beam rods, keith, black pistons, cam, a few bolt ons and some tuning. i kept the stock heads but ran 1.6 crane cams roller tips and springs recommended with the cam. My question is. My engine is currently running a 10.42:1 CR on the stock heads. Im wondering if the engine would be strong enough for a super charger, i know the CR is an issue and i was wondering since im looking to upgrade heads anyway if there is a head out there that would lower my CR enough to support the pressure of added boost, and if so what type of charger would be best and what other mods would i be looking at to run a 10-12lb boost, thanx a lot for your time

The compression would be ok... if the rest of it was up to the task.

You can drop your compression many ways - open the stock heads up, buy new ones, etc. 10.4 and 10# has been done on stock motors, theres no reason a forged one can't stand up to it.

You said KB pistons, so I am going to assume hypercraptic ones - Theres the big red X in your case. Sure people have done it with stockers, but if you spend any money I say pull those out and get some dished forged pistons - lower your compression and get rid of those junk slugs (junk in the case of bigger power adders)

Also, what cam?

don't even bother trying to get an off the shelf cam, talk to one of the custom cam makers and get a blower cam made for your setup. talk to any of the engine builders on this site and they can set you up with a piston/head combo that will work better with boost than what you have now. Simply getting some dished pistons would be worlds better than what you have now.

The pistons and 10.4:1 are not going to like boost much. If you keep it to 5-6 pounds, you will probably be ok. It's going to need a rich tune and retarded timing. More than that and you will break pistons.
