I disagree.. the BTM is a nice feauture.. and having "ON THE FLY" adjustability is great.. so is the scanmaster... if my car pinged I would inmediately lower the timing on boost...

Now I have the LTCC and I sold the BTM... I Will be putting a 2 bar map sensor and tune around it... I know the pcm doesn't see correctly a map of 2 bar, but I can scale the tables which is what I will do.

I see boost even when I'm not at WOT. The PCM doesn't have a clue about it though, so the BTM is still handy. It's a great tuning aid, IMO.

I'm eventually looking to go with a DFI or FAST setup with the LTCC that will see boost, then I won't need the BTM box.

Till then, I maintain my previous statement.

I tend to agree with SMOKNZ. The only thing I can think of to justify the use of a BTM is if you use two different octane fuels for driving/racing. The rest of the timing (to an extent) can be taken care of with Tunercat/Lt1edit.

Ive had a BTM sitting in my garage for about 3 years now. I got it before I started doing my own tuning, but now I really have no use for it.

I too see boost at some part throttle times, but I don't think that the engine is under enough load to worry about detonating, even though if you had your 100KPA timing set for MAX load it would be using those timing values and it will be safe. Even though the MAP cannot see boost, The PCM does compensate for it. The MAF picks up the extra airflow and adds fuel accordingly, that is until it maxes, but you will never see that unless your WOT. Not having a BTM is just one less thing to have to worry about failing. Because how do you know it really is working?
