I was wondering what kind of numbers they got. If someone can give some details, it would be great cuz I don't get that channel.

I believe they got 405 rwhp, and in the 390's for torque. They said they got a 135 hp increase, and a 150 tq increase with NO tuning, just bolt on and dyno.

Ya they are was some good magic slide of hand in that show. They show removing the MAF and install the down piping from the TB, they hang the rear mount assembly, talk about scavenge pump and wiring....
...but no where do I see a MAF being reinstalled nor is it on the inletside of the turbo or up top in the bay???
There rucking awsum hacks..

Re: Big Show Coming Up Sat Jan 8th On Sts Turbos

Really? I thought these cars had to have a MAF with the stock computer system. So if I have long tubes on my LT1 then I need a LS1 kit? Would my power be hurt badly if I just kept my stock manifolds? I'm thinking about the Kooks LT1 headers and y-pipe but I don't know if the $1000+ would be worth it, other than for better plug access. Once again, I've HEARD that there will be little or no difference in power between headers and stock manifolds with the STS system. Please let me know wht is fact and fiction about this system.

Yes, the system uses the MAF, but the full install of coarse wasn't shown on the show. LT1 with longtubes would need the LS1 kit which runs the pipes up the drivers side instead of the center. No, your power would not be hurt by using the stock manifolds. The testing we have done hasn't shown much of a difference, but then again it wasn't direct replacement before and after dynos. If you don't already have headers, don't bother with them. Money would be spent better elsewhere.

Cool, thanks. I think I'll just use that $1000 toward an STS system. I thought it sounded cool on that show with the surround sound on. I never realized that a turbo was that high pitched, almost like an idling jet engine on a commercial airliner if you can imagine that sound.

so someone mentioned that is as quiet as a stock car? From hearing the videos its sounds fairly loud. Will adding a small muffler reall make any difference? Has this been done to any customer cars?

Re: Big Show Coming Up Sat Jan 8th On Sts Turbos

On a car with cats and a base turbo kit it would be MUCH quieter.

My truck has no cats, a big cam (for a 5.3L) and a larger turbo (GT67) so it's pretty loud without the muffler. I run a 20" magnaflow on the street and just unbolt it from the flange for track days. The F-bodies don't have that kind of room so most run without a muffler but really are not that loud. My truck is louder than both of the STS cars from the shop and one is running a GT70. Trucks are just loud for some reason. LOL

Hopefully my buddy will get his system done soon and he is going to try out a Supertrapp "muffler". This may work well for the STS kits.

The STS LS1 I rode in was loud IMO. louder than my LT1 with the open plate in the borla (car has headers and a cat ahead of the borla)

My car is just barely louder than stock at idle and normal driving. The system is loud at WOT, but thats a good thing. I have completely stock exhaust back to the turbo.

So it should have a great sleeper effect for street racing. Well, until you step on it and blow by whoever you're racing, lol.
