Budget forged motor 500RWHP Goal
If you were to build a budget short block for 500+ to the wheels what would you include.
Current Parts I have
224/236 .520 114 lsa cam
1.6:1 Rockers
Hardened push rods
p600B 12 rib setup 3 core front mount intercooler.
edlebrock headers ( i know these suck )
BBK 58mm throttlebody
built 4l60e
3600 stall
3:73 Gears
I want this to be a fun daily driver.
Budget is 4800 Total including fuel system upgrades, gaskets, etc...

My 2-cents for a budget 500rwhp setup:
-Stock crank
-Stock 2-bolt main caps with studs and stock windage tray
-Scat I-beam rods with 7/16" rod bolts (check Summit)
-SRP dished pistons. If budget allows, Diamond, Ross, JE etc 2618 piston prefered. 9.0:1 for pump gas.

Ok, this is pretty rough from memory but should get you started.
§ Hot tank or jet clean block - local machine shop - $100
§ Magnaflux block for cracks - local machine shop - $100
§ Stock crank - assume in good shape - $0.00
§ ARP stud kit - $90
§ Machine work to surface caps, align hone - assume not needed - $0.00
§ Rods - Scat per below - $320.00 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SCA-26000716/
§ SRP pistons, pins, rings - Will guess $600.00 (memory does not serve) so you need to check. Diamond, Ross, JE Etc will be more
§ Machine work associated with piston - assume none- $0.00 If cylinders check out in good shape just touch hone and drop in your piston
§ Bearings – Main, rod, Cam/Freezeplugs (installed) - $70 + $50 + $100
§ Balance - $250
§ Assembly - Assume local builder - $200-400 depending
So figure $1,630 to 1,830. Again, real budget oriented, lots of assumptions, hopefully you get the idea and can research further. I’m sure there are odds and ends I forget that WILL add up! If you start thinking beyond 500-550rwhp or so, you will need to think sonic check block, street fill water jackets, forged crank, 4-bolt main conversion, align bore/hone, clearance for stroker crank, better rods, bore/hone cylinders with plates, parallel deck. Be prepared to shell big bucks.

yeah, pretty good advice for yer goals. stock crank with even some radius work will make it tough to beat. I got those scat i-beams cheaper elsewhere, and I went with keith black premium forged 2618 18.6 dish for a ~9.5:1 compression @ $425. The added compression will help when not in boost, and since you wont see more than 15 psi its not going to be a major issue. Yer gonna need some 42 lb. injectors, I would spend a little money on pocket porting heads and match intake. Definitely think about ditching the shorties and get some used longtubes. I think I spent about 1200 on my shortblock and some gaskets, main studs, and with balancing, polishing the crank, honing the cylinders to the pistons to make sure you have adequate clearance, and filing the rings to the bores to get the right gap. One walbro in tank should be enough, but for the price, you might want to consider duals for added safety and peace of mind. Maybe run the 2nd off hobbs switch. 4800 is alot to play with here on a budget build. I think you can get her up and running for alot less if you do the labor yourself. Aseembling the shortblock usually runs about $500 if you dont want to take the chance. I use a stock oil pump with the GM white spring and get about 70-80 psi cold and about 30 hot @ idle minimum, and as soon as you give it any gas it shoots up to 40-60 even hot and up to about 70 psi at WOT. I already had my injectors and pushrods and rockers, e-w/p, and 58 mm TB and cam/heads. If you need to get heads thats where you might break the budget but i think you'll be under.

0 miles on the motor, never installed. You could put just about any amount of boost you wanted with this motor. A local guy in Mobile built the motor for me (VERY well respected engine builder). Here is the link to my for sale post.

I am waiting on the person to decide if he wants a motor from a person or from a shop with a 2 year warranty. I told him this has first class parts in it. unfortunately I don’t know the builder from Adam. Do you have the build sheet with all the blueprinted numbers?

I totally understand about not knowing the builder. I will have to look but I don't think I have what you are looking for such as blueprinted numbers, but I will look and also call the shop and talk to the builder and see what he says or if he has a copy. What are you looking for as far as build sheet?
