Building another LT1...which pistons this time?

Looking at building another LT1, and want to be somewhat on a budget.

It will be another MP build, but this time...a street car.

Looking at either TRW speedpros, SRPs, MAYBE JE, or diamonds. Only looking at running 10-12 PSI, so i dont need a crazy piston.

I know speedpros are good, built strong, but they are heavy and are the cheapest

SRPs i know have a high silicone content and do not like detonation

JEs and Diamonds i know are strong, but pricey

More than likely, going to either run stock rods, or forged i-beams.

Trying to keep internals under a grand this time

Id got Diamond or JE but again you have a budget. And if your going to run a stock or cheap forged rod there is not sense to buy a piston that will hold twice the power. Stock crank i assume?

Probably SRP or speedpro.

Scat 7/16" Pro-I beams 6.0" and Wiseco Pro-tru pistons will be best bang for the buck and hold up to the boost.

i'm having issues finding wisecos. The only thing i can find in wiseco are a -15 dish, which isnt enough IMO.

what size engine? 355 or 383?

I picked up some parts for a 383 a while back, but never used them. Brand new Lunati custom pistons (4.030" 2618 alloy -30cc 5.7" rods O-shaped dish) and a new set of Eagle 5.7" 4340 H-beams with L19 rod bolts.

If interested, PM me and we might be able to work a deal...

How can you scrimp ($$) on internals? Seems to me that pistons are the most important part of an FI engine build. Set your specs into writing, do the math, and find the proper piston. Don't worry about cost, those dollars will be eaten up in two tanks of gas, or less.

The speedpros are still holding up on mine at 15 psi. Heavy but strong as you pointed out.
