Hmmm... I hope he doesn't go out of business. I know Speedomotive delivers. They've been around since the 60's. One guy built a 396 in our Club and he loves it!

Scoggin-Dickey sells engines too.

Here are two 383 LT-1 Short Blocks, one with 10.4 and the other with 11.8 compression.

Both of those engines are under $4,500, and dig the propaganda:

This custom short block engine assembly from SDPC features a race prepped LT1 block with Milodon steel splayed center main caps. It also comes with a Lunati 4340 forged crankshaft, Lunati Pro Mod 5.850 rods, SRP forged dished pistons, JE file-fit rings, Federal mogul race bearings, and is internally balanced.
Just another option for you to know about.

Your one of the lucky ones...put yourself in my shoes where you shell out over $10k and nutting to show for it over 2 yrs, and you'll be singing a different tune

Unhappy

I don't care how good the guy builds motors, anybody that does business in this fashion doesn't have his customers in his best interest. If he is this short on capital that he has to have big upfront deposits, and then take a year or more to complete your engine, and then not ever or rarely return calls, e-mails, etc. then I would say something is a "little fishy here." Sounds like this guy is a very risky deal at best. Shops like this go out of business all the time because they're undercapitalized or the owner has other problems.

I've checked out Banks turbos... a bit pricey and no way can anyone use 800HP on the street on pump gas (91 in Cali). I've heard rumors for 3 years about his LT1/LS1 turbo set up... nothing. Just for kicks I did a search and they go back to 2001. About his N/A engines... they may be a bit overinflated in price like everything else.

Are we talking about Banks (Gale Banks)?

Also, Summit sells a 383 with a 224/230 cam... It looked like an honest price at the time. It was in the new products section a few months ago.

www.summitracing.com

Edit - I just checked and didn't see in on their website, however it is in their catalog (3 months ago). You may want to call about the LT1 383 engine.

I support the Scoggin Dickey short block. Got over 4000 miles on it. Runs great. Just put 8psi of boost into her. 550 RWHP hopefully it will hold up.......I don't think they are LT1 pros. But if you know what you want, they can build just about anything. Also they've been around the block for a long time.....joe
