Hopefully its within .005" or so, I dont like pistons to far in the hole. Have to use a thinner gasket and I like a good thick gasket for boosted motors. MLS stuff is nice but both surfaces have to be machined smooth
Hey thought I'd chime in to help. Andrew bought this motor off me and It is a 383 with Callie's dragon slayer crank, crower rods and je -16 pistons. I used a felpro hp 1074 headgasket on this application. If this helps the engine builder likes to write his measurements on heads so as you can see in this pic there is something written on driver side head

Nice, -16cc pistons will give around 9.8 to 1 with a 64cc head. 10.5 to 1 with 58cc stock type head. So i'd leave the shortblock alone if you have heads that are 63-65cc as you mention in your other posts. Add meth for insurance on higher boost but it should take 10psi without it with a good tune.

its within .0276"-.0283" there je pistons, no numbers on top of piston like my probes.... would they put numbers on the bottom?

You would need to find true top dead center and measure the piston to deck clearance. 0.0276 is wayyy deep in the hole. That cant be right. Double check. That setup with the pistons in the pic will not be 14 to 1 comp either. Valve reliefs look fairly deep maybe 16cc worth but i was expecting a slight dish. If they are 16cc then you should be fine with the heads where they are at. Just need a head gasket of right thickness for proper quench. The numbers on the head are piston to valve clearance numbers which are showing plenty of clearance

Those don't look like a -16cc. I would double check it. Most ft 2 valve relief pistons are in the -4 to -6 range.

thats true top dead center. im just about done with all this lol can someone gimme a part number to what pistons i should buy. w.e will put me around 9.5-1
and a part number on a gasket too.
even if i can use these pistons for 14+ lbs of boost id rather just get some other ones so that i KNOW what they are

Ok so I was talking to a very popular shop in my area (big sals race engines) and they said there Gina hook me up with what I need. So its Gona be outs my hands. Now I'm trying to decide if I wana use this cam 218/230 .528/.544 [1.6] 114LSA 110ICL or this one 238/242 580/603 on a 107 with 2.3 advanced in timing. What would be better

If it's going to be anything close to a daily driver with boost, I'd say the first cam. That second one sounds like the specs for a naturally aspirated solid roller to me.

first cam compared to the other choice there. Other is way big for what you need and likely abit boost unfriendly
