Going to the track.

Well if the wife will quit *****ing I'm going to drive an hour away to run a 1/4 mile track tonight. Oh forget her I'm going anyway I'm hoping to be in the low 12's but I'm not sure. I lost boost when I put on the LT's, went from about 5.5lbs to about 3.5 lbs. Just put on the 9# pulley and got back to about 5.5 lbs to 6 lbs. Maybe I'll be able to hit my goal. At the 1/4 mile tracks do they have your 1/8 times on there with the others? Sorry for the newbie question but I had to ask.

2 lb boost loss just from headers?!? Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Boost is merely a measure of how restrictive the engine is relative to the amount of air forced into it via blower or turbo. So when you add headers you reduce restriction because the mass of air as a whole coming from the blower can now get through the engine easier, less restriction so less boost. Even more air is moving through the entire blower/engine package even reading ~2PSI lower on the boost gauge, just more efficiently and at lower temps. More power will be made regardless of the ~2 PSI drop in boost due to the header addition, so he will pick up a lot since he's pullied it up some to compensate.

Re: Going to the track.

My track times last Friday night were consistantly around 12.35 to 12.4 at around 111 mph. My best was a 12.28 at 113 mph with a 1.78 60'. I was pretty happy with that for my first 1/4 mile visit. It sure does seem like forever when all you've been running is the 1/8 mile tracks. I'll find out Friday night what I can consistantly do in the 1/8th with my newest additions.
