is this a good turbo headgasket?-cometic

LT1/LT4 1992-96 4.040" MLS / C.O.T. - .040" C5645-040 1 $78.90


??? it says for a 4.040..but my car is only going to be bored .030 do they have a 4.030?? and is this a good gasket for my car? im going to be running no more than 14psi..


ive pretty much came up with this.

stock deck height builder said its good(engine has 30k miles on it stock)
.040 headgasket
3.48
-24cc pistons
5.7 rods
57cc LE2 heads

cant get an exact compression ratio..

The head gasket bore size is supposed to be slightly larger than the cylinder bore. However, with Cometics, the finish on the heads and block needs to be better than what normally came from the factory. If your block and/or heads don't have a surface finish of at least 50RA, they won't seal.

Also, you should find out your CR. You'll need this information to properly select a cam.

Why? He has almost the same setup I have, except my block is decked. 8.9:1, worked fine for the previous owner.

couldnt find any stocked pistons deeper..and I just dropped the block off at the machine shop..they will let me know if it needs to be resurfaced since the block has such low miles on it.

What he's saying is that a brand new block straight from GM will need to be resurfaced to use Cometic gaskets.

For some reason I thought it calculated out to 9.1:1.

JE/SRP stock -31cc pistons.

yeah the -31 are for a 383 or 396(i forgot which one) im going 355

Yeah with the .040 gasket it would be. I was using a thicker one. Either way, 9.1:1 is still fine for a turbo.
