Which head would work better with D1SC

I'm looking at the AFR 195 Eliminator street ports.

and the AFR 210 race ready heads NON competition

http://www.airflowresearch.com/index.php?cPath=27_57

I'm thinking the 210s flow better so I might get better results with less boost. Less boost less detonation. But will they make for difficult tuning and bad street driving.

I'd go with the 210's if you are sticking with 383ci.

I am of the opinion that the 227's will be harder to tune, and he doesnt need a port that big with boost.

the better flowing head will allow him to achieve more power with less boost.

some of the fastest boosted LTx's are running the 227s.

If you have anybody that actually knows how to tune, the 227s arent hard at all.

You guys are killing me. I started this thread with two choices now I have three. I want to have a head that I'm not going to out grow in a couple years as I make my car faster. I have a chance to buy a good set of heads now so this might be the last set I buy. They dont just give them away.

out of the two you posted, i would say the 195s just for the fact that i talked to eric bradby a while back, and he said the 210s are hard to get to flow good.

also you need to know, advancedinductions wont even touch AFR heads anymore, so its going to be harder to find somebody to do a GOOD, QUALITY port job on them. If I was spending the money, I would get some brodix cast with the LT1 coolant passages in them (yes, you can get this done)

I would go with the 210's for your application. With boost you want a nice big intake port to fill with a higher volume of air. You won't have to worry as much about port velocity as you have boost which acts a lot different than N/A engines. However, the D1sc will be limited with boost (you will have to pulley the hell out of it and possibly over spin the blower to make a good amount of boost) with the 210's as you would probably want to upgrade the head unit to an F1 or something along those lines. Is this a race set up or street setup?

Buy the AFR210 as cast and send them to Lloyd Elliott.

The choice between 195's and 210's boils down to what rpm you want your motor to run best at. You would need a pretty large cam and higher rpm to make use of extra flow of the 210's. If it is a race only car then I would definitely go with the 210's because of the extra power at high rpm. If it is a daily driver then you would be happier with your power to be made a little lower in the rpm range.

Because Lloyd can get some good numbers out of the 210's.
