How much did you spend to have all of that done to your trans? I'd like to do something similar...

And the rear speakers still work after this?
THe trans INCLUDING core was $2200.. I LOVE it! DAMN good company! The clutch was something around $1200 w/ the master, PP, FD, and FW.

The small trunk speakers.. Deleted.. Monsoon Deleted..

What are you goals? mph? rwhp? race gas? pump gas? idle quality?

BTW, no one has proven that lumpy cams with alot of overlap are actually bad for a turbo car. In actuality, the opposite has shown to be true.

Something that I've really been wanting to see is a setup optimized for the small T76GTS turbo. It would be something like 327-346 cid with AFR225 or L92 heads, cam in the 236/242-112 range, tubular headers, 3.5" downpipe, 4" exhaust, T76GTS .96 AR, water/air intercooler. I bet it would get close to 150 mph in the quarter on pump gas at the right weight and 160 on race gas.

I want the Short block to be about 550hp. -I don't think that is too much to ask from that motor.

I haven't thought the pump gas thing thru yet... I'm still in the beginning stages of building this motor. More like the design stages now. I saw a dyno vid of the SAME setup yesterday. It dyno'd 930hp!!! :shocker:

NOT a DD car.. ... THis will be a garage queen and drove to the track. Somewhat streetable. I haven't found the exact turbo yet. I sent an email to a vendor from another site. I have been buying parts thru them since I bought my car 4.5 years ago. I'm going to see what they say..

I just want a bullet proof engine to throw some boost at. I was originally going to go w/ the 383, but I was told the 408 can take a lot more of a beating. It MAY be eventually a drag only car... We'll see... Super Street type class.

I'll replace the clutch when the time comes.. THat MC SD is only good for like 650-700 someodd HP.

From what I was told, on a 6 speed it should be fine.. an auto might be a different story.. Correct me if I'm wrong. May be a little steep... 900hp w/ NO first gear..

We can definitely take care of you on the engine, as well as all the associated parts.

If your looking to make 550hp before you slap on te turbo, you might need to rethink things. There is a local guy running a 408ci LSX T88 setup. He made 440rwhp on motor before bolting the turbo on. In order to make 550hp (even if its flywheel), you'll need some compression... which is not what you want if your going to have a reliable boost friendly engine.

BTW, he makes 830rwhp @ 14psi with the T88.

^ Like I said, plans and designs are subject to change. I'm not dead set on it making 550fw. That's just a guestamite.

I found my Vendor..

9.5:1 Compression has seen 530 rwhp on this 408 I'm looking at. They called me this morning and discussed everything. BULLET PROOF engine! Trick Flow heads and a NICE grind cam! I don't want to give away specifics, but I have the itemized parts listing emailed to me. The short block is a NICE price, but they include a lot of stuff on the long block. THey will mill the heads to achieve exactly the compression I want. FULL Blueprinted block! I'm impressed!

I can't WAIT!!! 8 Months, I'll have it!!!!!!!!

Hmmm... I dont think you'll see 530rwhp with 9.5 CR. It usually takes 11.5-12 CR to make that with a 408ci. You should be satisfied with with 450-475rwhpp with low compression. I am on ls1tech alot and see dyno numbers alot, so check out a few posts I listed just for comparisons.

^ this is what a REPUTABLE Engine builder told me that this engine will run. This is what he has seen. This engine has a lot of top notch internals. NOT your run of the mill Eagle crank either.. -Other brand. I JUST got off the phone w/ them this morning. -Not trying to argue.

Anyway.. I've got the fuel system picked out now..

*2 Walbro 340 intank fuel pump
*Walbro fuel pump install kit
*hotwire kit
*Billet fuel rails
*billet fuel pressure regulator w/boost ref.
*MagnaFuel billet stainless steel fuel filter
*Aeroquip -8 braided stainless feed fuel line
*Aeroquip -6 braided stainless return fuel line
*Aeroquip fittings and misc parts to complete install
*VersaFueler injector controller and 83# injectors

Still working the ECM system. Prolly a stock ECM system on a tune till the turbo is in.

I hope it works out for you! I just dont want you to be surprised or dissapointed if you come in ~50-60rwhp less than that. Keep us posted on the build!
