I had read this thread back when it first appeared and found it very troubling since I have essentially the same setup(though mine is not running just yet. My longblock will be finished today I'm told). After a few days, I came across another thread in the FI forum (not necessarily this sites forum. I read a lot of them) where the gent had issues of oil pressure (too much) and oil getting into both the Intake and exhaust. A respondent had described how the seals of the turbo are designed(You good people may know. I didn't) He said they are like piston rings that will hold up to a certain PSI, but after that oil will get past them. The worst aspect of that, it was said, is not smoke in the exhaust from oil ingestion in the combustion, but rather contamination of the MAF's wires, thus throwing the fuel calibrations off. Is that possible here on 1982z28with18s
car? Oil fouling his MAF?

Yep I'm running speed density, have been since the car went back together. I have looked in the cold side pipes also, no oil. Thanks for the thoughts though.

Looks like valve springs will be pulled off this week and tested. If that doesn't fix it, last thing I can think to try is the torque converter.

Hmm...

Pulled out today, motor/tranny cold, and did two wot pulls, pulled smooth, didn't lay over at all. It still felt down on power some, but it was pulling smooth to 6100 each time. After a short drive and it warmed up a little bit, it then laid over again.

Maybe the converter is bad? Colder transmissiond fluid is thicker and causing it to work?

Sounds more like the opti to me, my car did that when the opti went out. Ran fine cold, then ran like **** hot.

I know you have a new ignition, but for what it's worth, when my Digital 6 went out, it would run fine when cold and then terrible once it warmed up. I didn't quite get what my mechanic said, but it was something about it going to ground once it warmed up.

Hmm, maybe I'll try unhooking my box and making a pull when it's cold to see what it does.

how is your ignition box wired up?

is every joint soldered? i hade issues with my MSD wire harness... the plugs had high resistance so I cut them out and soldered everything together. The car would run fine untill it got hot after two or three minutes...then it would load up.After I soldered everything it ran like a champ..

I might have to try to solder all of them, when I checked resistance on the wires before they weren't bad though, but that wasn't when it was hot either.
