look what i get to play with....

im my line of work everything is pretty much diesel and 99% of the time forced induction. our big trucks sport roots blowers with turbos... in this particular piece of equipment its a 2 stroke V8 with all kinds of *****. im sure it needs a new engine but during the trouble shooting of the excessive blowby of oil i discovered that the turbo had WAY too much shaft play so i figured thats where the oil was coming from. so we replaced it... take a look.... yea its 88MM. thats me.

I'm not for sure if thats big enough for my next project or not... Once the Camaro is dialed in I get to start on my 78 Firebird. I have a 455 pontiac and I was thinking 550ish cui with a thumper.

You would need atleast a 91.5mm for the 5xx cubes and even then I bet the 91.5mm is a little undersized.

Could always go twin 88's

Thumper 101??

Thats so far away now though, I still don't have this one done. At least I have driven it a few times now.

To the OP, I was not even aware of setups like that. Forgive my ignorance but are all diesels 2 stroke? Its something I have never touched on.

oh yea shes heavy all right... as you can see im not the biggest guy. its a silver 92. the tracks that i use to work on had pretty much the same engine but a v6 version and those lil bastards are just as bas ***. the hmmwv has a lil 5Xmm turbo. il try to get a pic of a turbo off a M88 (57ton recovery track) it sports a 1750CI air cooled twin turbo motor.

i see quite a bit of large turbos all day... i do work in a diesel shop myself... My uncle owns a peterbuilt dealership and i work in the shop...

It is crazy the weird concepts that they used and that it actually works and works well. Like the compound turbo CAT motors... goofy goofy IMO

Hey bro! Where are you at over here? 1st Cav right? I am in Diyala provence, Muqdadiya, FOB Normandy. Gotta love the Detroit Diesel stuff. That 88 Motor is no Joke. You got Bradleys in your unit? They have some good sized turbos as well.
When are you due to come home?

Stay safe man!
