mass air sensor on intake side?

Hey does anyone know why ati puts the mass air before the compressor? It seems like everyone changes them why don't they?
Thanks Matt

Because they are homo. Move it to the pressure side, some say it's more responsive and idles smoother. In my case, I want to be able to drive if I blow an intercooler hose off (vacumn leaks before the MAF have no effect).

Vortech does the same thing also. I think the MAF should stay where it was without the supercharger, near the throttle body. It gets a better signal up there. If you put it near the air filter and route a bypass hose near it, you will most likely get surging because the air is turbulent. Putting the maf up near the throttle body seems to cure a lot of driveability problems. And like the other guy said, the engine will still run if a hose blows off somewhere. Why they don't change the kits, who knows.

Is there any down side to doing this? I am strongly looking at doing this from the start also.
What do the guys who have done it modify to get it to fit? Do you just hack off the plastic piece feeding the elbow or do you have to hack off the aluminum elbow some too???

On the vortech kit with the aftercooler, you have to modify the elbow, and both intake pipes. Basically, a big pain in the ***. But, I rather do it now than later.

Yep. I'm going to give the V2 a shot. If I'm not happy with that, which is highly unlikely, then I'll go with a Ysi.
Thanks for asking.

At the moment, my car is more of a street car than anything else. I got sick of the noise from the blower to tell you the truth. I just thought I'd try something different, and the V2 is supposed to be pretty quiet. My exhaust sounds awesome, especially running it around NA. The high pitch whine of the blower kinda really defeats the low bass pitch of the exhaust. The ati P600B had more than enough power for me, it was pretty insane.

I'm not looking to be the fastest guy in town right now, otherwise I probably just would have got a D1 or F1.

I decided not to sell my old setup in case I change my mind.
The car should be ready in another week or two. I've had to mod a few things to make the vortech work. Can't wait to drive it again, really miss it.
