need help with blower motor setup
i was going to put together a N/A 396 but decided to go with a procharger instead.so far i got a lt1 block with 4-bolt splayed caps, callies dragonslayer crank and 5.850 rods.i really dont know what pistons and heads to go with.would lt4 or afr lt4 be too small for this motor?i would like to run on pump gas and wondering whats the best kit from ati would be to run around 15 lbs of boost.i also got a moser 12 bolt w/4.10,should i go to 3.73 or something else in an m6 car?new to blower and just looking for some advice, thanks

Re: need help with blower motor setup
To correctly answer your questions, you almost need to work backward as follows.
How fast do you want the car?
How high do you intend to rev the motor?
Will this be race only or a driver?
What fuel do you intend to run?
Once I know your performance expectations, a determination can be made to see if your performance goals can be done with a "drivable" engine.
Then the power needs can be determined to match, as well as the appropriate gearing to get it to the end of the track.
Chances are that 3.42's will be good unless you plan on big tires (28"+) or plan to rev in excess of 7k.
Please give some more info & I'll be glad to help.

Re: need help with blower motor setup
Like Lonnie said, you need to decide on what you want to do with the car first: driver or race!!
If it's going to be a driver, I'd recommend 3.42 gears in the rear. I had 4.10's with the blower on a stock motor and 1st /2nd gear was way to fast(shifting thru).
If you want to run on pump gas, you're going to have to lower the compression to around 9:1 or so. Look at dished pistons to do this. Along with the combustion chamber size on the heads and the amount of dishing on the piston to figure out what the c/r will be. AFR heads should be a good match, depending again on what your intent with the car is, they have several heads, The two popular ones are 195cc LT4 w/ 56cc-74cc chamber size or the 210cc(I think).
You are also going to want to have all forged parts(running that amount of boost), new oil pump/ drive, etc.
Good luck
