Powerdyne Photos

Im looking for some photos of a powerdyne install. I have installed everything except Im having a little trouble with the air inlet tube. Everything else is perfect but for some reason I can get everything to fit quite right. Any photos of the bottom side would go great.

Re: Powerdyne Photos

I made my own air intake out of some Home Depot ABS
white plumbing fittings.
Less restrictive than the stock setup.
Cost about $25.00.
Don't even know where the original one is.
Let me know if you want a pic of that.

Re: Powerdyne Photos

This intake consists of a 3" x 4" elbow off the powerdyne,
a 4" coupler, a piece of 4" pipe, a 4" to 3" reducer, and a short piece of 3" pipe that meets up with the MAF sensor.
The air dam for the rad and a/c has to be shortened up for this to fit.
Since taking this pic I have shortened up the 4" pipe to fit
in a larger longer air filter I bought off ebay. The stock powerdyne filter is small and fills with dirt sooner.I also painted it grey with a spray bomb.
This setup is like an expansion chamber and allows for a larger air charge to be available when going WOT.
It's pretty easy to make and works well with good ground clearance. It is easily replaced should it get damaged which hasn't happened to me in over 10,000 miles of driving.
Also the powerdyne hoses are kinda short so for a better fit without having to worry about the hoses blowing off or coming loose especially on the boost side,I recommend going to a hose supplier and getting a foot or so of hose rated to take at least 20 psi. Mine came loose a few times but not since I cut longer pieces and replaced some of the powerdyne ones.

Take a look at the link below.Modular air intake systems.Looks to be good quality.reasonable price. You can make any configuration you can dream up.

Re: Powerdyne Photos

Running the air intake down and to the front seems to be a much cleaner install, but I am wondering about the longevity of the MAF sensor. It is my understanding that moisture can wipe out the hot wire systems? Having the intake low and up front will put it at more danger under wet conditions. Just a thought.

Re: Powerdyne Photos

Yeah that was my concern, I was hoping to get some photos of one that was installed as per the directions. They are unclear and hard to follow. A photo would be SO HELPFUL!!!

As you found out, Powerdyne instructions are not very useful. I'm still using the original pieces but had to use the long metal inlet top support on the bottom because the short support didn't reach anything! The long support will reach from the roll-bar bracket. I don't like the small filter either and plan on redoing the inlet section over the next month. I have a 3" m-f pvc elbow from a home center. The o.d. of the m end is 3.5" and the f end socket o.d. is 4". This lets me use the 4" x 9" cone filter that Summit sells under their name. I'll use a silicone rubber 90 deg elbow (I'm waiting for the vendor to ship) to get from the charger banjo pipe to the front fender and a short piece with the pvc and opti taps then maf then the 3" pvc elbow with the filter up in the fender where the long plastic piece from Powerdyne is now. The filter may stick up slightly into the engine compartment. If it does, I'll make a cover to seal it using the bottom of a plastic jug or some aluminum flashing stock. This will keep the maf and filter up above the plastic floor of the fender. If you're interested, I'll send a picture (via pm) when I get done though that might be a month from now.
